3.0 Course Assistant
If you haven’t heard, we’re shaking things up this season.
What’s the idea?
For each of our three Session 3.0 courses, The Level Up Project will coordinate one Course Assistant (CA) who, in exchange for attending a course for free, will function as a liaison between TLUP, instructor and course participants.
Who are these Course Assistants?
This CA will not necessarily have subject area expertise, and is a participant in the course like all the rest. They will be vetted by TLUP with the following qualifications:
In a financial & mental/emotional position to both learn, and offer themselves generously to the instructor, TLUP and their peers in a supportive and proactively communicative role.
Can commit to being present for the entire duration of the course.
Serves as a first point of contact between peers, instructor and TLUP; fields individual questions, concerns and offers a non-judgemental space of connection.
Digital fluency; experience with Zoom, Google Drive, and a stable internet connection.
Creates availability for two intro & planning meetings with instructor & TLUP in advance of first session, a bi-monthly monthly check in, and one wrap-up meeting within two weeks of final session. Additionally submits Intake Questionnaire & signed Partnership Agreement no less than three weeks prior to course start.
Female and/or minority**-identified early or mid-career creative; ** including but not limited to gender & sexual identity, race, immigration status, physical ability.
Desire to embrace the spirit of TLUP’s mission during this prep & learning season; notably considering themself a part of a project that aims to lift up other artists, designers & craftspeople. Consistently spreads the TLUP word via social & in their networks!
What specifically will the CAs be doing though?
This will depend slightly on each instructor, and the level of involvement each instructor wishes to have with their students. That said, CAs should expect to take on the following responsibilities, unless otherwise arranged with the instructor:
An hour of pre- and post-session set up & breakdown, which might be spent communicating with instructor or peers, managing the Zoom room or course info, etc.
Manage the Zoom room & any session recordings, promptly share course docs & recordings via email & Google Drive
Weekly emails to participants, with session notes and/or homework reminders. The content of these emails will be provided to CA by instructor in advance of class beginning.
Promptly connects participants to instructor, TLUP and resources as needed, via email or the per-course specified communication channel (i.e. tagged comments via Google docs)
